The 5-inch HP Minnow is a new size of the HP Minnow that maintains the basic performance of an i-shaped worm while also enhancing its practical performance and versatility to accommodate the newly developed “escape action” technique. In recent years, bass have often chased lures but failed to bite due to various techniques being used against them. With the advancement of fish finders, this phenomenon has become visible, leading to an era where it can be confidently recognized as a definite response.

The “escape action” technique, which triggers the predatory instinct of bass and leads them to bite, has only recently become known for its effectiveness. The essential performance requirements are the ability to entice and to achieve the escape action without losing balance, preventing bass from seeing through the lure. The HP Minnow 5″ accomplishes this through design and material adjustments.

When used with a jig head, it is designed to attract and entice bass with a subtle roll and tail action, considering that an intense roll is unnecessary for a 5-inch volume. When used without a sinker, it maintains a stable posture near the surface. For deeper ranges, a swivel carolina rig can be used to present the no-sinker state at the desired range. This approach allows for horizontal swimming, curve fall inducement with line tension, and enticing with the escape action.

To enable anglers to adjust the quality of the escape action, a bridge is installed in the slit section, allowing for a wide action if left as it is or a tight action if the bridge is cut. The HP Minnow 5″ is versatile enough to be used with various rigs such as jig heads, no-sinker rigs, nail rigs, swivel carolina rigs, and free rigs. It aims to overcome situations where bass would previously chase but not bite, by varying the timing and speed of the escape action.
